URBAN SCIENCE EDUCATION FUND
MISSION STATEMENT:
Urban Science Education Fund was formed to support science education at Muskegon High School, an urban school, where many students struggle with science and also have difficulties when they reach the college level. We hope to be able to provide funds for lab equipment and science experiences, like field trips, that students wouldn’t otherwise get. Over the past years, we have seen our budgets cut again and again, while the expectations of what students learn has greatly increased. For students to be prepared for college, it is vital that they have practical experiences in science to go along with the material they are learning. This is important to help students ground classroom knowledge in real-life experiences and also so that students are not overwhelmed by the expectations they will have in college labs using technical equipment. All funds raised by Urban Science Education Fund will go solely to support science education at Muskegon High School.
